Last night, we held our annual Junior Campus Awards evening, an occasion to celebrate the excellence, hard work, and commitment demonstrated by our students throughout the year.
The evening commenced with a processional piece performed by the Junior Chamber Group. This was followed by a powerful welcome from our Ākonga group, who opened the ceremony with a beautiful waiata. Their performance showcased the strength of our cultural heritage and the great pride we take in our collective identity.
The presentation began with the Academic Awards for Year 7 and 8 students, recognising both outstanding classroom excellence and consistent effort.
In her inspiring Head of Campus address, Mrs Justine Scott reflected on the year: “This year, our journey together has been shaped by two guiding ideas — the Headmaster’s theme, E Pluribus Unum — 'Out of Many, One' — and the Australian Army’s challenge: 'The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.' These ideas have resonated deeply throughout our campus. They remind us that our collective strength as a brotherhood comes from each individual choosing to do the right thing — to uphold our standards, live by our values, and look out for one another.”
The ceremony continued with a stunning musical interlude from Year 8 student Jim Wang, who delivered a beautiful piano performance, perfectly setting the stage for the presentation of the Music, Cultural, and Service Awards. The DF Cotter Cup for the Arts Performer of the Year went to Yi Yang. Following this, the Sports Awards celebrated the numerous sporting achievements of our young men. These achievements reflect not only exceptional skill but also the dedication and sportsmanship that define our athletes. The John Finny Trophy for Sportsman of the Year went to Ian Mackechnie.
Mrs Justine Scott closed the evening with a heartfelt message: “To all our young men: we are immensely proud of your achievements and the way you embody the values of Dilworth School. To our parents, whānau, and staff: thank you for your unwavering support and commitment.”
Congratulations to all of the award recipients! The full list of winners can be found below.
