With the end-of-year exams finished, last week was a great opportunity for our Year 10 and 11 students to go on a few days of careers exploration - thanks to Dilworth’s Careers Team and some amazing businesses who helped make it all possible.
AUT Year 10 On-Campus Experience Day
First up, our Year 10 students visited AUT University for a fantastic day exploring careers across AUT’s faculties, including Sports Science, Design, Communications, Engineering, and Hospitality. Students gained valuable insight into industry-linked tertiary pathways, including observing labs and staff utilising technology to produce films, podcasts, and radio content in professional studios. This experience helped them connect their current learning with exciting future career possibilities.
Year 11 Careers Experience
Later in the week, 83 Year 11 students headed out on a Careers Experience Morning, where they could choose from different options depending on their area of interest. They were fortunate to be hosted by some incredible businesses where they gained invaluable real-world exposure and career insights during two-hour workplace visits. The options included visits to ASB Bank, Tesla, Everest Consulting (surveying and engineering), Rocket Lab, as well as hands-on electrical experiences at ETCO and the medical technology companies Kitea Health and the Auckland Medical Research Foundation.
This exciting opportunity allowed Year 11 students to experience what is possible and to help them make informed decisions and build networks down the track.
Many of the businesses visited also have strong connections with Dilworth Old Boys, which further emphasises the value of the extensive and talented Dilworth community to current students.
