House Assistant

We are seeking a well-rounded and enthusiastic individual to work within our boarding team, based in the Year 9 House. This fixed term, part-time position is ideal for students who are currently attending university, or working part-time. The early morning and after-school shifts accommodate your schedule while allowing you to make an impact on the lives of our students. Te Haerenga (The Journey) is the name of Dilworth’s Learning in the Outdoors Programme delivered at our Mangatāwhiri Campus. Te Haerenga is a comprehensive, scaffolded and longitudinal Year 7-13 curriculum area which aims to develop boys into capable young men who are good and useful members of society who flourish in life. The Mangatāwhiri Campus is located in a beautiful area of farmland and native bush set against the Hunua Ranges. 

We are seeking a  Senior Outdoor Instructor with relevant NZOIA or NZQA qualifications and experience for a permanent position based at the site commencing in Term 2 (commencement date Monday 20th April 2026). The successful applicant will be engaged in the leadership, supervision, organisation and facilitation of a wide range of outdoor education programmes and activities, including some overnight duties.

Your role plays an essential role in leading other instructors, and giving them the skills and confidence to grow. Gardener

We are seeking a permanent, full time Gardener to start immediately. The role is based in Central Auckland and the amazing grounds and gardens provide an environment that generates school and community pride.

On offer is an opportunity to those experienced and preferably qualified with a Level 3 Certificate in Horticulture, Landscape Gardening or similar with at least 5 years hands on experience to work in a busy and stimulating environment across the Senior and Junior Campus. The position will require you to maintain the gardens, lawns, passive areas and hedges to a high standard, have an eye for detail, can-do attitude and ability to be a self-starter and work individually and also in a team environment.  The role will report to the Grounds and Gardens Manager.

School Counsellor 

  • Work with students from a variety of ages and backgrounds, with autonomy in selecting best fit counselling approaches

The school is seeking to fill a full-time position for a Registered Counsellor primarily based at the Senior Campus, also assisting the Junior Campus, in Epsom. This role is largely term-time only with the option to offer a small number of additional weeks per year for administration and policy work. The key purpose of the role is to support students facing challenges and collaborate with whānau/families, the school psychologist, boarding staff, teaching staff, and senior leadership to gain a holistic understanding of students’ needs. This role supports students from years 7 to 13. The successful applicant will be competent in a variety of counselling approaches, have experience working with young people and their whānau/families, demonstrate cultural competence in their practice and demonstrate excellent communication skills through effective collaboration with colleagues, management and senior leadership.

The Counselling role includes:

  • One-on-one student counselling
  • Small group counselling
  • Engaging with whānau/families as needed to support students’ experiences
  • Working within the Student Services team to triage referrals and participate in MDT meetings
  • Confidential management of student cases

Desired skills:

  • Experience working with adolescents, children, and whānau/families from a variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to develop positive, professional relationships within a counselling team
  • A well-developed understanding of how to navigate ethical concerns as they arise in their practice
  • Effective engagement with wider school staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with various software applications – familiarity with KAMAR is a plus
  • Respond effectively in high stress/crisis situations when they arise
  • Confidently undertake individualised risk assessments

Required skills / Qualifications:

  • Formal qualification in counselling or relevant field
  • Current registration with NZ Counsellors Association, or other relevant professional body
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in relevant counselling / therapy field
