Arts and Culture

We offer a rich variety of opportunities for boys to engage in performing arts and cultural activities at the Senior Campus.

Students are able to take individual lessons, join groups and perform in shows, events and competitions.

Additionally, many visiting artists perform at our campus throughout the year, while students also attend many concerts and performances throughout the year.

Music

All students are encouraged to learn a musical instrument with instrument and singing lessons provided by specialist music teachers.

We offer clear pathways so students can continue to learn their instrument of choice and participate in musical groups as they move between campuses.

Boys are able to join a large number of groups including Big Band, Concert Band and Chamber groups.

One of the jewels in our performing arts crown is the 32-student senior choir Fortissimo. Fortissimo performs at the annual choir competition The Big Sing, regularly winning Highly Commended placings. We also have other choirs that perform at school and external events.

Each year we hold a House Music competition that showcases the talent in each school house.

Performing Arts

We produce a musical show every two years, and students are encouraged to participate in the Diocesan show in the other year. As well as on-stage roles, there are opportunities for back stage and technical crew, costuming, publicity, staging, orchestra and design.

Students are also able to participate in activities including Theatresports and Summer Shakespeare.

Pasifika group

Our Pasifika group performs in alternate years on the Tongan Stage at the ASB Polyfest. This takes place during Term One and involves extensive practice and input from families.

Kapa Haka group

The school Kapa Haka group leads all major school events and performs regularly at functions such as the Arts Showcase.
