Stepping out for Ronald McDonald House

Step by step, we’re getting behind Ronald McDonald House’s fundraising drive to help families with a child receiving hospital treatment away from home.

On Friday 1 and Saturday 2 March, we’re calling on all members of the Dilworth community to walk or run five kms, in a non-stop event, with a new leg starting every half hour.

You don’t need to be a fitness fanatic to take part, and if you can’t be there on the day you can also help out by donating money here: https://housetohouse.everydayhero.com/nz/dil

Our fundraising effort is part of Ronald McDonald House’s House to House campaign, where individuals and groups pledge to walk or run 210 kms, to raise money so more families can benefit from this valuable service.

Put simply, Ronald McDonald House give families with a hospitalised child what they need most – each other – by providing accommodation and support free of charge.

Donegal Housemaster and PE teacher Ally Patterson is organising the event and says he sees similarities between Dilworth School and Ronald McDonald House, in that they both offer a place to stay and support when families might be in difficult circumstances.

The event starts at 12.30pm on Friday 1 March, and every half hour, people will walk or run five kms. Once that’s happened 47 times (until 10am Saturday 2 March), the 210km distance will have been achieved.

Everyone across all three campuses as well as their family members and friends, are invited to sign up to take part. Email a.patterson@dilworth.school.nz to sign up.
