Dilworth and Diocesan schools present Beauty and the Beast – May 2019
Senior school students from Dilworth and neighbouring Diocesan School for Girls are gearing up for their annual school production, which this year is the timeless musical classic Beauty and the Beast.
Twenty-five Dilworth students are in the cast, including Josiah Va’a as the Beast and Etuate Lutui as Gaston.
The show promises to enchant audiences across four nights of performances in the Raye Freedman Arts Centre, from Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 May.
Set in 17thcentury France, this quintessential fairy tale is inspired by the original story by Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve and the shortened tale of Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. It features all the well-loved characters and music you will recognise.
There are 42 cast members, 15 orchestra members and a 60-strong backstage crew, led by a new director for this year, Margaret-Mary Hollins. A professional production crew is providing valuable opportunities for the students to shadow and learn about all aspects of dramatic production and musical theatre.
