Academic success of 2017 celebrated
The academic success of our 2017 Top Scholars was celebrated at a Senior Campus function on Tuesday 27 March.
Top Scholars are students who achieved an overall Excellence endorsement in NCEA external examinations. In 2017, there were 12 boys who achieved Excellence at Level 1, seven achieved Excellence at Level 2 and seven achieved Excellence at Level 3. The boys (listed below) each received a certificate to acknowledge their high performance and a Top Scholars badge.
Additionally, five boys received Silver Dilworth Medals for gaining scholarships – Indivar Kumar and Oscar Richardson-Read in Drama along with Matthew Mcnaughton, Liam Ottley and Quinn Gray in Classical Studies.
The Gold Dilworth Medal for Top Scholar for Excellence in NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3 was awarded to Indivar Kumar. Matthew Mcnaughton was awarded the Gold Dilworth Runner-Up Top Scholar medal.
The overall NCEA results for our school from 2017 were:
- Year 11 - 95% gained NCEA Level 1 with 56% getting a Merit or Excellence endorsement
- Year 12 - 95% gained NCEA Level 2 with 41% getting a Merit or Excellence endorsement
- Year 13 - 99% gained NCEA Level 3 with 27% getting a Merit or Excellence endorsement and 70% gaining a University Entrance qualification.
