Academic Curriculum
Introduction
The Academic Curriculum is based around the eight Learning Areas of the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC), which are: The Arts, English, Health and Physical Education, Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences and Technology. Subjects will be structured to fit these areas. The academic curriculum will be integrated as much as possible under topics or themes.
Each subject area will focus on the teaching of the Key Competencies outlined in the NZC: Thinking, Managing Self, Relating to Others, Participating and Contributing and Using Language, Symbols and Texts (this competency will require less of a specific focus). Project-based learning will also come under the umbrella of the academic curriculum.
